It’s seems that the chatter going around the internet saying that the 40GB PS3 will hit our shores and will only cost 299 pounds are just rumors and speculations according to Sony.
The rumors started to go around when Sony announced the 40GB PS3 for Japan and when the price cut happened in America however it seems that they just stayed rumors and that we again will get the worst deal.
A few weeks ago microsoft dropped the price of the 360 and it seems that it would be a really good idea if Sony did the same but it turns out that they will not at the moment.

It looks like the Wii is still winning the console wars in japan with figures showing that it is out selling it’s main rival the PlayStation 3 by a figure of 3:1.
In the four weeks that ended on the 24th August the Wii sold 245,653 with the PlayStation 3 selling 81,541 units and the Xbox 360 lagging so far behind with only 11,288 sold in the same space of time.
This brings the total of Wii’s to 3.4 million with the PlayStation 3 shifting 1.1million and the Xbox 360 only selling 442,290 to date.
These figures show that the Wii is still out doing it’s competition and that the Xbox 360 still is the whipping boy of the three consoles and that Microsoft still hasn’t made the impact that they have in other territories.
With Sony being the only one out of the big three to have a press conference there biggest announcment was that a new service called PlayTV will be launched on the Ps3 early next year.
So what the hell is PlayTV well it basically boils down to a freeview tuner that you can use to watch TV on your PS3 and also you’ll be able to record your TV programmes onto the Playstation 3 hard drive.
The standard 7 day EPG will also be present where you can use it to set which programmes you want to record and also find out whats on TV for the next 7 days.
Another neat little feature was shown off that will enable you to watch programmes on your PSP and also be able to us it to set programmes for you to record.
In a quick little statement David Reeves head of Sony Europe said “The introduction of PlayTV really will extend the already broad entertainment credentials of PS3, and makes it an exceptionally attractive proposition for the whole family.”
The service will launch early next year and as soon as we find out more details we will let you know.
