Resi Evil Wii hit’s 1 million

Filed under: News, Nintendo — stuart @ 1:00 pm

In a bit of a surprise to Capcom it seems that Resident Evil 4 on the Wii has sold better than they thought it would in fact much better.

Capcom only expected the game to sell no more than 420,00 unit’s except now it has gone over the 1 million mark which has come as a big surprise to Capcom themselves.

This story shows one of two things, firstly that Capcom had low expectations for one of the best games of the last few years with one of the best control systems on the Wii and secondly it also shows Capcom that the Wii is a big console and that it’s going to see more sucess than the Gamcube did.

Just to add one thing to this news story is that Capcom have also said that there fantastic PS2 game Okami will also be gracing Nintendo’s box of Tricks early next year.

Wii still winning in Japan

Filed under: News, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo — stuart @ 11:43 am

It looks like the Wii is still winning the console wars in japan with figures showing that it is out selling it’s main rival the PlayStation 3 by a figure of 3:1.

In the four weeks that ended on the 24th August the Wii sold 245,653 with the PlayStation 3 selling 81,541 units and the Xbox 360 lagging so far behind with only 11,288 sold in the same space of time.

This brings the total of Wii’s to 3.4 million with the PlayStation 3 shifting 1.1million and the Xbox 360 only selling 442,290 to date.

These figures show that the Wii is still out doing it’s competition and that the Xbox 360 still is the whipping boy of the three consoles and that Microsoft still hasn’t made the impact that they have in other territories.

Wii is on course to be UK best seller

Filed under: Nintendo — stuart @ 5:31 pm

According to Chart Track the Wii is on course to pass the one million units mark within the next few weeks making it a bigger success than Nintendo last console the Gamecube with it only selling just over 1 million units in it’s lifespan.

At the moment the Wii is selling 4 times more than the Xbox 360 and a huge 6 times more than the Playstation 3 making it a huge sucess so far for Nintendo.

The reason why the Wii is selling so good could be down to a few things, firstly it’s a new concept in gaming and people want to try it out, secondly it’s the cheapest out of the three major console and finally the Wii has pick up play ability making it easier to just have a few minutes gaming and making it easier for families to enjoying gaming together.

Whether this pace will keep going remains to be seen with two of microsofts big guns getting released withing in the space of the next six weeks and a rumored price cut hitting our shores but i’m so happy for Nintendo as it shows you that there is a lot of life left in this giant.
